Glitter Pumpkins Tutorial

Here at Belly Button we love anything glittery and with Halloween right around the corner, we thought what could be better than making a glittery pumpkin (or two)glitter pupmkins tutorial

Free foliage photoshop brushes from Creature Comforts blogthings you will need

Things you will need - Pumpkins, glitter, pva glue and also a pencil and a paintbrushdraw on the circlesapply the gluesprinkle on the glitter

Once the glue and glitter have dried brush away any excess glitter to reveal your fabulous sparkly polka dots underneath!edit6

If you want to add even more sparkle to your pumpkin you can cover the stalk in glitter too.

We also decorated a smaller pumpkin by covering the bottom half in glitter and then adding a gold bow, you can go all out or keep it very simple, it's completely up to you.IMG_0564IMG_0542

We would love to know if you make your own glittery pumpkin, so make sure to tweet us a photo if you do!

Platinum Party Time

Here at Belly Button we love nothing more than a fabulous party, and what could be more fabulous than having one to celebrate our Henries Platinum win!  This year our best-selling metallic foil embossed Platinum range received a prestigious Henries award for ‘Best Relations and Occasions’ and we couldn't have been happier! We had a lovely party this morning to celebrate, and of course a party isn't a party without tea and cake (which we had plenty of).IMG_0087

Jessica's DIY Feather Headdress

Here at Belly Button we love anything glitzy and sparkly, so when we found out that the theme of the Henries this year was Calypso carnival we couldn't wait to create some fabulous feather headdresses to wear on the night!

The lovely Jessica Button (above) made all of our crowns for us and we loved them so much that we thought we would let you know how to make one of your own.

We bought our feathers from a local crafty favourite, Fred Aldous!Screen shot 2013-10-21 at 13.39.51

Step 1 - Trim your feathers to the correct length and colour them using Dylon dye to the colour of your choice.

Step 2 - Fix the feathers (about 4) onto your tiara with some strong glue.

Step 3 - Make a feather trim to cover the bottom of the longer feathers. You can do this by using lots of smaller feathers and sticking them over the base of the tiara.

Step 4 - Decorate your headdress with as many jewels as you want to.

Once you have made your feather headdress you are all set for a fabulous evening!

As well as hand painting all of our beautiful Belly Button cards, Jessica also has her own shop selling beautiful handmade textiles and Bespoke greetings cards.

With carriages at 2am we were sad to leave after what had been such a magical memorable night. It was time to go to bed ready to catch the train back to Manchester. To end the adventure back in Manchester some of the Belly Buttons (still a little bleary eyed!) were slow to get off the train resulting in the train driving out of the station while they were still on it, leaving Katie speechless on the platform!

Don't worry though, the lost Belly Buttons have been found and brought back to the studio safely!
